Looking at that podcast number, I really made some serious headway this month, although with zeroing out my comics. I’m also on my final ten movies on the Netflix DVD queue, which means I’m chipping away at some more stuff.
With three weeks to go in the summer, I am starting to feel the crunch of the next couple of weeks, as the beginning of the school year looms. But that school year crunch is … well, if I really think about it, it isn’t something that needs to exist. Now, my colleagues and other fellow teachers will certainly tell you that it is real and they feel it, and I’m not saying they’re wrong. It’s just that I’m trying to create a work/life balance where I don’t feel guilty for deciding to read for the fun of it or actually enjoy my downtime/time away from work.
This has been on my mind a lot lately, probably because I’ve been watching too much teacher TikTok lately, and everyone’s trying to get themselves set up and ready. I’m probably going to start checking my email more frequently come Monday and I certainly need to reach out to a couple of colleagues about some things, but I’m personally putting off any sort of “pre-service week planning” until maybe the end of next week. So I’ll have plenty of time to read books and watch movies. I know it’s going to go fast; I just hope it doesn’t get away from me.
Beyond that, I don’t have much else to mention. August is usually nuts, so hopefully, I can chip away at some of these other lists.
