As always, let’s get started with the numbers …
Media consumed # (remaining/total)
Physical Comics Read: 14 (12/399)
Digital Comics Read: 0 (500/538)
Trade Paperbacks/Graphic Novels Read: 3 (17/91)
Books Read: 0 (121/167)
Movies Watched: 9 (107/137)
TV Shows Completed: 0 (36/38)
Podcast Episodes Remaining: 138
So I finally put a little bit of a dent in the podcasts, mainly because I binged a couple of limited series that I had been holding onto for a while–Spotify’s Son of a Hitman and the latest season of Dr. Death. I’ve said this number will never fully zero out because most of the shows that I listen to are still active. But I am also starting to take a more serious look at the shows that I have been subscribed to for a while but have not listened to. Some of them will just need a binge to get caught up. Others are shows I pick and choose episodes from, but stay subscribed to because I like (or am friends/friendly with) the host and I want them to have at least my subscription number. Others are there and have been there for a long time, and while I did enjoy them at one point, I’ve grown tired of them or the hosts’ schtick. So they might get deleted from my iPod.
As for comics, it looks like I’m very close to the end. The problem is that I think I’ve miscounted because there are twelve comics listed and I can’t think of the twelve that I have to read. My “unread” longbox is completely gone and I moved those comics into my “current” shortbox. I know of one or two that are in that particular pile. But … twelve? This may need a recount.
The TV shows also need a recount. I have seasons of things or full-on series saved to various streaming services, but at this point, I can’t remember what is officially on “my list” because some of the stuff saved to my Netflix list are shows that Amanda and I watched and are waiting on another season or that we all started watching but have not finished. Right now, we’re deep into season one of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and enjoying that. Plus, I don’t feel the urgency to work my way through television series the way I do with the comics or movies I have or have saved. Maybe because the comics are taking up space and the movies are one-and-dones?
Speaking of movies, the availability of so much through streaming has been a huge help in whittling down my Netflix DVD queue and provided me with some quality entertainment during my “ass is in the chair” time each night. Granted, it takes me the better part of two or three nights to get through a movie and I sometimes fall asleep and have to rewatch some (which my father used to all the time … so … yay?). There’s still a lot to go, but I like how steady this has been over the past few months.
I’ll get up to speed on books and trades eventually. Right now, I’m working my way through two monster tomes that are going to take a lot of time.
All of this during a month that was tough to get through in places. We’re gearing up for a change in our routine because I am going back into my classroom next week, and spring is coming, so I’m actually able to get out of the house more often (that is, when it’s not pouring out). With that is going to come spring cleaning and more donations, which will hopefully lead to more interesting content for this blog that has been slightly neglected over the last six months.
