I feel like this is an inadequate start to the year, although I had the same problem last year. What is it about January that can just kick your ass? Maybe it’s something to do with the amount of celebration I’ve done around teh holidays these past two years. I know that this past year was particularly tough for so many of us, and even if we knew that January 2021 was not going to be like flipping a switch, I think I’d kind of bought into the finality of December 31, 2020.
January wound up being pretty insane anyway, with the attempted coup on the capitol, and then just basically biting my nails through the inauguration on the 20th. Since then, it has been work that has eaten up most of my time, so I haven’t gotten to much of anything. In fact, I had to force myself to squeeze out a few blog posts here and there, which is disappointing because I feel like I’m on the edge of this project falling into neglect or bad habits returning yet again to the point that I’m going to boomerang back to a total relapse. And yes, I’m a little disappointed that with so few comics left on my list, I didn’t zero things out. But I guess you don’t have your heart in reading the third issue of DC’s adaptation of Demolition Man, you just don’t.
But then I look at how I watched a few movies, read a book or two (and one of them took what seemed like forever to read, so that’s why the number was down a little bit), worked my way through at least one television show, and trimmed down nearly twenty unlistened to podcast episodes and I see actual progress. So I guess that’s good.
This is a short summary, and a short entry, but I’m hoping that the stress of January will lead to a little bit of breathing and a soft reset for February.
