Uncollecting Update June 2019

As always, let’s start with the numbers.

Media consumed # (remaining/total)
Movies Watched 3 (149/156)
Books Read: 9 (115/149)
Comics Read: 24 (469/738)
Podcast Episodes Remaining: 110

June was a bit of an odd month for all of this, and you’ll notice that I didn’t post very much.  I spent about half the month on vacation and was more or less out of pocket.  I did read three books while I was on that vacation (and wound up getting a couple of books for my birthday) but didn’t read very many comics.  Since we got back, I’ve watched two movies but haven’t had much of a desire to read beyond those books or comics that I’m reading for my podcasts.

In looking at the totals, I am seeing progress six months into this project, but I feel like there are aspects of it that I am half-assing or not being good enough with the follow-through.  Granted, I’m now in full-swing summer break as a teacher and I’ve more or less spent the last couple of days in that post-vacation funk wherein I don’t know what to do with myself.  I feel like I should have a longer to-do list or something like that so I have something to show for myself before the Fourth of July weekend is over.  Not that I don’t–it’s just that getting into the routine I wanted to establish seems to be harder than I thought it would be.

I have, in the very least, started to make my way through my Netflix DVD queue.  There’s currently 63 DVDs on it and I’ve finished … two?  Yeah, I know that’s kind of pathetic, and I am honestly not justifying the cost of keeping the DVD rentals to the point where I may actually offload the subscription when I have cleared out the queue, especially since I probably will sign up for Disney+ later this year and since streaming rentals via Amazon are not very much money and I have a cable subscription I’m not using to its maximum.

As far as books go, I got a few for my birthday and added them to the totals.  I’ve avoided buying any back issues, even though I’ve been tempted to do a dive into the bins.  And while the podcast episode totals don’t budge very much, I have spent a lot of time working my way through a lot of the back catalogue of my subscriptions.

So as the pattern of things goes here, I’m making my way through stuff but am becoming impatient by how incremental everything is.
